In the first group of the first round of the qualifying, Scott Dixon has set the best time of the weekend so far. The eliminated drivers have been Josef Newgarden, Takuma Sato, Carlos Muñoz, Sebastian Saavedra, Carlos Huertas and Marco Andretti, who will start from the final line tomorrow.

In the second group, Castroneves has been the only driver who has beat the time of Dixon. Eliminated drivers in this round have been Rahal, Conway, Hawksworth, Kimball and Aleshin.

One of the big surprises of the day has been Scott Dixon, who has crashed into the wall in the second round, and will start from 12th. Ahead of him will be Juan Pablo Montoya, Ryan Briscoe, James Hinchcliffe, Justin Wilson and Luca Filippi (from eleventh to seventh, respectively).

Finally, in the Fast six round, Sebastien Bourdais has done it. The Frenchman has scored the first pole since 2007, although he has not been able to beat the best time of Castroneves in round 2. Will Power will start from second and his teammate Castroneves, from third. There could be a great fight tomorrow between both drivers of Team Penske. Hunter-Reay, Pagenaud and Kanaan have closed the top six.
